Teaching God's Word On The Internet
By Allan E. McNabb

The other day, one of our members asked about my website, and suggested I update the congregation.

So, I thought we’d take a break from our series on Jesus, and I’d give you an update this week.

Value of Teaching on the Internet
A few months ago, two ladies visited from the Embry Hills congregation in Atlanta, because they’d been listening to sermons on our website, ReasonForHope.org.  Besides being very complimentary, they also told us they downloaded the lessons, burned them on CDs, and distributed them to others.

This showed me the importance of our work on the Internet, which is simply an aid to get the message out, as with newspapers and radio and television.

ReasonForHope.org
Our congregational website is ReasonForHope.org, which is completely maintained by Alan Crim.

Although I’ve not asked, I know this work has to take up a good deal of Alan’s time, in addition to maintaining the members email list, and his other duties with the congregation.

In a month’s time, ReasonForHope.org has 2,000 to 3,000 visitors, downloading 12,000 to 17,000 files, which is very good for a congregational site.

Resources on ReasonForHope.org include:

  • Information about the congregation, including location and contact info.
  • Bulletins dating back to 2001.
  • 600+ audio sermons and classes, dating back to 2002.
  • Sermon slides.
  • Study material.
  • Links to online study resources.

BibleStudyGuide.org

I started my evangelistic website in 1999, as a way to spread the gospel to the lost.

I’ve organized the site with non-Christians in mind, to help them learn the truth through study of God’s word.

To this end, the site is structured to get a high ranking on search engines for topics relating to Bible study.

On Google, BibleStudyGuide.org has the following search rankings:

  • Bible Study: #8
  • Bible Study Salvation: #2
  • Bible Study Church: #3
  • Bible Study Books: #3
  • Bible Study eBooks: #5
  • Bible Class Books: #3
  • Bible Class eBooks: #1
  • Bible Study Podcast: #6
  • Children’s Bible Study: #7
  • Audio Bible Lessons: #1
  • Interactive Bible Lessons: #8
  • Topical Scripture Guide: #1

In a month’s time, BibleStudyGuide.org has 55,000 to 104,000 visitors from more than a hundred countries, downloading 520,000 to 725,000 files, making it one of the most visited evangelistic sites maintained by a member of the church.

Resources on BibleStudyGuide.org include:

  • Bibles
  • Audio Lessons
  • Interactive Lessons
  • Articles
  • eBooks
  • Topical Guide
  • Children’s Bible Stories
  • Games and Quizes
  • Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Lexicons, and History Resources
  • Commentaries
  • Greek and Hebrew Resources
  • Podcast
  • RSS Newsfeed

Other Helpful Sites
To find meeting locations of brethren, I think GoodFight.com is the best.  It’s very thorough and easy to use, and has a Google map on every church listing.  I also use Bible.ca.

For links to brotherhood sites and research sites, Ferrell Jenkin’s BiblicalStudies.info is the best.

And to only search brotherhood sites, there’s only one, which was created and is maintained by yours truly, LoveMyJesus.com.  This search engine only searches religious websites maintained by brethren, which is very handy when doing certain types of research.
