Christians Make Godly Choices
We Must Be Like Jesus Jesus chose good over evil. And as His disciples, we must choose good over evil. We Must Choose To Obey and Worship God God said, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways” (Is. 55:8). We must choose between the sinful ways of the world and the righteous ways of God. And Isaiah said of people who chose improper worship of the Lord, “Just as they have chosen their own ways” (Is. 66:3). We choose whether to obey or disobey the Lord; thus, we choose whether to worship as He commands. To Obey God, We Must Choose to Fear Him David said, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Ps. 111:10). And Solomon said, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Pr. 1:7). Unless we choose to fear God, we will never attain to true knowledge and wisdom. Everyone chooses to either respect or disrespect God. Have you chosen to fear God and obey Him? To Obey God, We Must Choose to be Humble God alone is wise (Rom. 16:27); hence, a person desiring to become wise must submit to God and acknowledge Him in all their ways. We can’t lean on our own understanding — we must lean upon God (Pr. 3:5-8). No man will obey God, if he is not humble. Have you chosen to be humble? To Obey God, We Must Choose to Love Him Paul tells us, “Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law” (Rom. 13:8). “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails” (1 Cor. 13:4-8). In other words, we’ll make godly choices if we love God and love our neighbor. Who. . . . Who loves the God? People who reverence and obey God. Who makes godly choices? Christians, just as Jesus chose good over evil when He walked upon the earth.
